Information Systems Manager

Topeka Metro is accepting resumes for an Information Systems Manager.  This position is exclusively responsible for all computer networking, hardware/software, backup systems, coordination of new and existing transit technology, telecommunications, security systems, and all other technical related duties and projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
  • Five (5) years of IT experience
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple IT projects efficiently
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid Class C driver’s license

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Customer oriented with the ability to provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively and courteously.
  • Demonstrate a professional, pleasant and helpful demeanor towards the public.
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to memorize routes, transfer points, and fare structures.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with safety and traffic rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Reliable and flexible with the ability to work various shifts Monday-Saturday.
  • Ability to obtain a KS CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements within two weeks of hire date.
  • Steady work history with previous experience.
  • Must maintain an excellent driving record.
  • 21 years of age with a HS diploma/GED.Full-time starting pay after two weeks of training $15.07/hr. 6 months $16.07/hr.
    12 months $17.08/hr. 18 months $18.08/hr. 30 months $20.09/hr.

Maintenance Technician IV

Topeka Metro is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Technician IV to perform entry-level inspections and routine maintenance as required on bus fleet vehicles and provide building and ground maintenance for all Topeka Metro properties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and ability to perform service work including, but not limited to: fueling, checking/replenishing fluid levels, tire pressures, chassis and body.
  • Ability to perform facility and grounds maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, snow removal, minor facility repairs and painting.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary for the completion of assigned duties.
  • Possess and maintain an inventory of hand tools necessary for the position.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement.
  • Steady work history with mechanical experience.
  • HS diploma/GED.

The shift for this position is Tuesday-Friday 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with pay of $18.32/hour. Topeka Metro offers great benefits and is a KPERS employer.

Transit Planner I (Part-time)

This position is intended to introduce a current urban planning student or entry level planner to the professional practice of transit operations planning and management. Duties include, but are not limited to: transit amenities construction planning, transit timetable scheduling, fixed route and paratransit service and performance analysis, fixed route and paratransit run cut production, demographics and geospatial analysis, passenger survey design and implementation, bike/car sharing projects, system mapping, maintenance of ridership data for the National Transit Database, short- and long-range planning processes, city development review processes, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data regarding ridership, demographics,traffic surveys, maps, costs, and revenues.
  • Ability to utilize GIS software such as ArcView and ArcMap.
  • Independently manage project elements of a multi-step process for transit amenity construction process including: site selection, project scope, site design and engineering, city regulation and department approvals, public and adjacent property owner outreach, and construction contract bid/award.
  • Current urban planning student or recent graduate with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban and/or transportation planning or closely related field.
