Beginning April 1, 2019, bus operators will NO LONGER STOP to pick up passengers once the bus has pulled away from the boarding area.
Safety is the top priority at Topeka Metro for our passengers, employees, property and the general public.
Topeka Metro’s buses are scheduled to depart Quincy Street Station at :15 and :45 after the hour. It is the passenger’s responsibility to make sure that they are at the boarding area with their fare and ID ready by the designated bus departure times.
Many times, passengers are sitting inside Quincy Street Station, purchasing a pass, or at the designated smoking location when the bus closes its doors. As the bus departs the boarding area, these passengers run through the lot waving their arms and attempt to get the operator’s attention. Many run into the path of the bus. The bus then blocks other buses departing the station. Topeka Metro cannot condone this unsafe behavior.
